Overview & Experience
We organize half day Kumana National Park safari tours during the outbreak of the morning sun and at the peak of the afternoon heat which you can choose from as you wish. No matter what timings you choose, you will be gracefully picked up from and dropped back at your hotel at Arugam Bay showing you the best of the national park that covers a massive area of land of 35,664 hectares. A special feature here is that an area of about 200 hectares is allocated just for the sole purpose of bird watching during the months of May and June, where you could see several different species of birds that fly here to hibernate. This is also one of the reasons why exploring the Kuman National Park is one of the most popular activities amongst both the local and foreign tourists to the area.
Our Kumana National Park Safari Tour doesn’t just cover bird watching, you can also enjoy splendid moments of seeing several species of reptiles, and turtles as well as capture memorable moments of seeing a large number of wild animals in the area. Some animals and bird varieties you can see in Kumana are Elephants, Leopards, Golden Jackal, Wild Boar, European Otter, Mugger Crocodile, turtles, pelicans, painted storks, Lesser Whistling Glossy Ibis, Purple Heron, Great Egret, Indian Pond Heron, Weathercock, Purple Swamphen, Intermediate Egret, spoonbills, white ibis, herons, egrets, and Duck Black-crowned Night Heron.

"Fabulous afternoon safari. Very knowledgeable guide who spotted game from the start to the finish. We saw many elephants, crocadiles, deer, wild boars, water buffaloe, mongooses, jackals and the crowning glory, a leapord ambling about. The park is also a wetland home to a diverse population of birds. Great driving skills kept us feeling safe all the time. Having visited Yala last year, I would say this tour and guide was considerably better."

"I found the guys on Google Maps. I messaged them on WhatsApp. We quickly agreed on a price, and the next morning Marafi picked us up. Right at 5 AM, on time. This shocked me; usually, when negotiating with Sri Lankans, you have to ask me a hundred times, but here, it was done on the first try. He drove us like a breeze. He took his camera and photographed animals. He seems to have a nose for wildlife. We saw everything: birds, elephants, buffalo, leopards, some dogs, minks, weasels, lizards, crocodiles, and an inordinate number of deer and birds. The language barrier wasn't much of a problem; we quickly discussed everything using gestures. The safari itself was interesting, and the kids really enjoyed it. We met four cars along the route, and no one was in anyone's way."

"I participated in a safari tour, and the driving was quite rough depending on the vehicle. 👀 Our driver, Ibu, was very gentle and his explanations were excellent♪ We didn't see any leopards 🐆, but we were surprised by the huge bears 🐻! Many animals came out from the evening 🌆 onwards. Apparently, early morning or evening is recommended."

Ansa was kind, patient, fun and a great teacher. In fact the surfing was so great we return to Sr Lanka April in to surf again. mainly took us to Elephants Rock and Panama beaches which were just lovely and not too busy so it was safe in the water. Ansa really is a lovely guy and a great surf instructor, very safety conscious and totally brilliant with the kids. Would highly recommend..also they arranged Kumana National Park Safari, Lagoon Safari and taxi to Airport"

He’s very alert and let us take our time to fully enjoy the experience when we come across an animals.
