Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka.The park covers 979 square kilometres (378 sq mi) and is located about 300 kilometres (190 mi) from Colombo. The park is best known for its variety of wild animals. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan elephants, Sri Lankan leopards and aquatic birds.
Yala harbours 215 bird species including six endemic species of Sri Lanka. The number of mammals that has been recorded from the park is 44, and it has one of the highest leopard densities in the world.

The main reason for staying was because we had to be up very early for the actual Safari. We had Bole as our guide, an expert spotter and didn't mess around getting to the location of the leopard sighting in time to catch a quick glimpse! We have done other Safari's so really appreciated his good driving, amazing eye and friendly nature. I think the key to Yala is who you know as the drivers tell each other where all the best spots are, and our guide was on the radio constantly keeping up with where to go at every turn. "Amazing tour company for Yala National Park. We arranged a half day morning tour of Block 1 and our driver Isha was fantastic. He arrived on time, and when we arrived to queue for the gates explained that he will go to all the spots where animals are usually seen. Once in the park he displayed excellent driving skills going around huge dips in the land and manoeuvring to the best spots for pictures, even with other vehicles around. He pointed out so many things we would have missed. We managed to see elephants, 3 leopards (although not very close) a jackal, lots of birds and buffalo, as well as a bear at the end that was so quick I couldn't get the camera out in time. Overall I'd highly recommend this company and driver Isha"
